So, I've been so busy I haven't made any mention yet that I applied (and was subsequently accepted) to the St. George Arts Festival that is happening this Friday and Saturday. I figured I'd planned everything and started work back in January just in case I got in and would have plenty of time to get it all done. I'm planning on heading out the door tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. and I'm not ready yet. I don't suppose there is ever enough time when getting ready for an event like this as I've heard many stories about kilns being unloaded into boxes and heading out hot. There have been a slew of hangups on this attempt also. My camera gave up the ghost as I was trying to get the last picture together to submit for my application. My final picture of my booth had to be shot with my cell phone, but evidently it wasn't too bad. Although, without a camera I don't have any pictures of the new work. None of the firings went off as expected, but as I'm finding out, with crystals that is to be expected.

In any case I have a lot of new work, some of it very different from what I've been producing and I'm excited and very nervous about my first Art Festival. My booth is B-17, if you are in the St. George area this weekend come and check it out.
It's been a busy fall and we haven't fired yet, but we are getting a firing together for next week. The only new work done has been a trial post firing reduction done to try to get some different colors on a firing we did last spring that didn't work out too well. I thought this piece worked out kind of nice, but it's subtle. It's a 9" tall green glazed vase that got a post firing reduction in a gas kiln to 1400 degrees for 10 minutes. This vase is going to the silent auction at the Clay Arts Utah Holiday Sale that is just opening now.
