Artist Statement

I often find myself drawn to simple beauty for beauty’s sake, and I find a lot of pleasure in the patterns and textures found in the natural world. I try to reflect natural beauty in my art, both in the forms and their decoration. For the last several years I’ve worked primarily in crystalline glazes. I’m fascinated by how many variations can occur in the same simple elements with just minute changes to temperature or duration of firing, and I’m always excited to find new variations. Every newly opened kiln pushes me to work harder to produce new work.
